During its earlier days, four anchorwoman were significant in popularizing “the program with nothing to hide.” Their oldest anchor was Kathy Glassford aka Carmen Russo, born in 1958 in Montreal and already 42 years old when she started to appear naked on camera while giving the daily business report. Above is Carmen doing just that on November 22, 2000, after being introduced by the “First Lady of Naked News,” Victoria Sinclair.
Kathy/Carmen appeared on Naked News from September 2000 to August 2002 and later reappeared for a brief stint in early 2004. However, her appearance on Naked News wasn’t her first nude media appearance. As a former model, she was featured in a Playboy special issue from 1986, entitled; Playboy’s Girls of Summer ’86.
Giving her French-Canadian and her Algonquin Indian heritage, her exotic beauty shone brightly during her 20s and later on during her 40s as she delivered the news in the buff. In the beginning she was specialized in business reports, partly due to her expertise in working as a merchandising consultant for a multi-national corporation. Later on she also delivered international news segments filling in for Victoria Sinclair (who took a sabbatical from the show from 2001-2002) before shifting to entertainment news by the time she reappeared in 2004. During her second spell in 2004 she had remarked about her return and her age: “I turned 45, an age where women are apparently supposed to just curl up and disappear, and I realized that I loved being so-called middle-aged. I felt great vibrant and confident ….and I thought I could be a role model for women who aren’t 21 anymore. Naked News management wholeheartedly agreed with me, and I came back better than ever, if I may say so!”
