Singer Andrea Marie Truden, who passed away in 2011 at the age of 68, went by the stage name Andrea True. She scored a top 10 hit on the Billboard chart in 1976 with the single “More More, More,” off of her debut album of the same name, with her group Andrea True Connection. The above music video for the song has Andrea lip-synching to the US studio recording of the song on the West (at the time) German music show, Musikladen (The Music Shop). “More, More, More” was originally recorded in Jamaica, and how it originally came to be recorded in Jamaica is a fascinating story.

In 1975, during her heyday in a field not completely unrelated to the music industry, Andrea was hired by a Jamaican real estate firm to appear in a series of their commercials that were shot in Jamaica. After shooting the commercials, Andrea then learned she would not be able to leave the country with her earnings. He choices were to either forfeit the money before leaving the country or spend it there.Andrea wisely chose to invest the money while in Jamaica by booking a studio recording session to give her singing career a boost. She enlisted the services of record producer Gregg Diamond, who joined her in Jamaica and, along with studio musicians, wrote and produced songs for the disco album More, More, More, which, of course, included the title track that went on to become a smash hit during the then-disco heyday in the United States. As for what Andrea’s “second job” was during that time, read on for information on that.

The aforementioned field Andrea was in at the time she was hired to do the commercials in Jamaica, was the adult film industry and Andrea did more than just “dabble” in it. She was a major porn star in the US during the 1970s. The above stills are from 1974’s The Seduction of Lyn Carter. Check out Andrea’s long list of X-rated credits at IMDb for more.

Dale Bozzio

Andrea True’s adult film career ran concurrent to her singing career. However, there have been several notable female singers who have shed their clothing for the camera before they gained fame as a singer. Madonna (well, before and after), Deborah Harry (of Blondie), and Dale Bozzio (above, of the band Missing Persons), who twice graced the cover of Hustler magazine (March 1979 & February 1980) as well as appeared in a pictorial “showing pink,” are a few of the big names in that category.

  1. I have heard “More, More, More” many times (guess it’s a classic disco oldie, lol), but had no idea about the story on the singer. Very interesting.

  2. Good article. Already knew about Andrea True, but not Nina or Tara. I heard Dale Bozzio of the group Missing Persons posed for Hustler magazine not long before she made it big. Also that Debbie Harry did some nude modeling before she was blonde with Blondie.
