Reminiscing about this tatted up musician’s 2018 performance in Minneapolis.
Today, Kehlani has north of 16 million followers on Instagram and over 5 million on TikTok. She’s sure to add more after dropping the “Next 2 U” music video on May 31, 2024. In 2023, this two-time Grammy Awards nominee cameoed in the box office smash Creed III. She was cast as herself performing “Shadows” at a label party, a track with Dreamville that also appears on the motion picture soundtrack.
The R&B singer made her national debut on America’s Got Talent Season 6 in 2011. Then, the singer was one of six members of the teen pop band PopLyfe, which finished in fourth place. In 2017, Kehlani dropped her debut studio album SweetSexySavage. A year later, she was the opening act for Demi Lovato’s Tell Me You Love Me World Tour in North America from February 26, 2018, through April 2, 2018. During the Minneapolis stop of the aforementioned tour on March 10, 2018, I had the pleasure of seeing this singer and songwriter in action.
During a photo assignment covering the tour’s headliner, I took snapshots of the opening act’s first three songs.
