The Original Hostess of USA Up All Night

Caroline was up before Rhonda

Even though it was her successor who became the best remembered Friday night hostess of the USA cable network’s 1989-1998 show, USA Up All Night, Caroline Schlitt was the original. You could say Caroline was to Rhonda Shear what Susan Stafford was to Vanna White. (That’s right, Vanna wasn’t the original letter-turner.)

Thanks to the USA network’s censorship, the movies that were presented on the show were edited for television, with all the swear words and nudity cut out. However, USA Up All Night is still fondly remembered by its legions of fans who, because they were either too young to go out or just didn’t have much of a social life at the time, tuned in every Friday and Saturday night. The Saturday night show was always hosted by comedian Gilbert Gottfried (and thanks for the free t-shirt, Gil!)
