It’s safe to assume that most readers of this site have never heard of Selina Juul. She’s not in the entertainment industry, but her high profile in her field has made her a very newsworthy lady, who’s been the subject of a lot of good press over the last several years. She’s an activist for an excellent and sensible cause that she diligently works for; the reduction of food waste in society. Selina founded the Denmark-based consumer organization StopWastingFood.dk (English translation) in 2008.
Originally from Moscow, a place where she was no stranger to food shortages, Selina now lives in Denmark, where she was initially shocked by the surplus and later, the waste of food. Since she began her mission to stop food waste, she’s been the recipient of numerous awards for her work and, most impressively, has been the primary force in reducing food waste in Denmark by 25%. Besides the aforementioned organization’s website, a visit to Selina’s official website will tell much more about this remarkable lady.
