WNBA star was knockout ring girl as last Saturday night's UFC event

Sophie Cunningham

Indiana Fever star guard Sophie Cunningham was the impromptu octagon card girl for the co-main event between Paddy Pimblett and Benoit Saint Denis last Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The 6’1″ blonde stunner was in Las Vegas for the Fever’s upcoming game against the Las Vegas Aces on July 12th. (That was today, as this goes to press. The Fever won 109-75.)

Two different views of Sophie becoming the center of attention.

The now-viral “pointing incident” took place during the June 22, 2026 game between the Indiana Fever and the Phoenix Mercury, in which Sophie was questioning a referee’s call of a technical foul called on her following a physical altercation with Mercury player DeWanna Bonner. After the play, Sophie questioned the referees about why Bonner had not also been assessed with a technical foul and began pointing at Bonner, which really got her agitated. Said Sophie of the incident; “I was just kind of pointing, and [Bonner] is like, ‘Don’t you point at me!’ and I was like, ‘Oop, shouldn’t have said that.’ And, I didn’t say a word… I think it’s dumb, but it was pissing [Bonner] off, and I couldn’t help myself.”
