Even though she began her acting career just a little over two years ago, actress Eleonora Spasova has already established a respected name for herself in the film industry of her home country, Bulgaria. Her latest role is in the upcoming anthology film Whispers: Tales from Bonnivar Park, which, as of this writing, is in pre-production and slated for release later this year. Eleonora also appears as “Mila” in Miroslav Petkov’s found footage horror, Recorded 2 (the sequel to 2005’s Recorded), which was just recently released in Bulgaria.
It is not yet listed at her IMDb page, but Eleonora also has a role in Atanas Mihaylov’s 2025 film One Gram of Life, a hard-hitting drama that focuses on drug use among young people, the consequences, and the impact it has on families. It’s said to be a must watch film for parents. Learn more about this talented young lady in the following exclusive interview she did for Idol Features. Eleonora’s first with an English language publication.
CHRIS CHARLES: I’m very happy to have you here, Eleonora. Is this your first interview with an English language publication?
ELEONORA SPASOVA: Hi, well yes it most certainly is and I am very excited to have the honour to do this with you.
CHRIS: When did you start acting?
ELEONORA: I started my acting career at the start of 2024 in an academy in Bulgaria.
CHRIS: You’re in the upcoming film Whispers: Tales from Bonnivar Park. Please tell us about that film and your role in it.
ELEONORA: It is based in a small town named “Sunfall” where in a park called “Bonnivar Park” there have been reports of people going missing for months. The main character Jack, played by Boyan Dimitrov, is a reporter who investigates some of the missing people. Being an anthology movie, it shows what happened to some of those people. I play Beth, who is Jack’s sister. And that’s pretty much what I can tell you about my character without spoiling anything.
CHRIS: I understand. You’re also in the found footage horror, Recorded 2. Please tell us about that one.
ELEONORA: The film is about a random group of people that mysteriously wakes up in an unknown location and they try to find their way out. There of course are obstacles in the way, but what will happen you will have to see for yourselves. My role is a teenage girl who tries to help everyone and find their way out.
CHRIS: Was your character in that film much of a challenge for you to play?
ELEONORA: Honestly it wasn’t hard to portray the character as I have read a lot about the interest that the character too has and so I had an idea how to act and it came very natural to me as in the film Recorded, it was almost like I acted myself as my character was a teenage influencer and I myself am.
CHRIS: Do you have a favorite film genre?
ELEONORA: Yes, my favourite genre film is horror, as one of my favourite movies of all time is Saw written by Leigh Whannell.
CHRIS: I see you were also in a film last year entitled One Gram of Life that delivers a very important message to young people. Please tells us about that.
ELEONORA: Yes, I had a role in One Gram of Life by Atanas Mihailov who had a great vision for this film. It shows young kids and parents how drugs circle in your life and how easy it is to start at a young age as the parent to see how they are easily bought and sold as it also shows what an important impact they have on their kids and how easily they can get on the “wrong track ” if not looked after and raised correctly. My role in it was one of the “bad kids” who influenced others to take drugs and shows how easy people are caught in these circumstances to try or be easily made to try.
CHRIS: Would you rather play a character similar to yourself or one who is quite different than yourself?
ELEONORA: I would love to play a character different from myself to challenge myself and my acting skills as I love trying to play different personalities and characters.
CHRIS: If you were offered a good role in a large production film, but it included a nude scene for your character, would you consider it?
ELEONORA: It would depend on the nudity, but for now I think that I would not.
CHRIS: Do you think you would like to direct films someday?
ELEONORA: I would actually love to as I have a good eye for these things and even acting I always see errors or ways to better a scene or a part of the script. I am also very artistic and creative and have a lot of interesting ideas in these areas.
CHRIS: Are there any American actresses you particularly admire?
ELEONORA: Yes, one of my favourite female actresses have got to be Sophia Bush and Bethany Joy Lenz. I loved their acting and natural presence on camera on One Tree Hill.
CHRIS: Have you traveled outside of Bulgaria much?
ELEONORA: I love to travel a lot. I have been to Spain, Greece, France, and England. I was also raised in England and lived there for five years in London. Solo traveling is something I tried for the first time last year and fell in love, because I am very outgoing and communicative and got to meet and talk to so many different people and learn from them.
CHRIS: I see you have a fondness for panda bears?
ELEONORA: I do in fact have a soft spot for them, but my favourite animal to this day are dolphins.
CHRIS: Are you a fan of the band AC/DC? I saw a photo of you wearing a shirt with their logo.
ELEONORA: Well that shirt was probably my dad’s. He’s a big fan and I started listening to them because of him.
CHRIS: Do you have any skills, interests, or hobbies only people close to you would know about?
ELEONORA: Well I am a gymnast and also sang in a choir when I was younger. One hobby that not a lot of people know about is that I love writing poetry and quotes and have been writing for two years now. I love learning about psychology and the human mind, with that said vibrations, energies, auras and life itself really infatuates me and I love learning more about them. I also read with tarot cards and have been for six years now and honestly it is amazing how right they have always been. I also love to ice skate and am pretty good at it. I started when I was probably 12 and have learned a lot of cool little tricks for a hobby. I am very creative and love to draw or make interesting DIY gifts for people I care about and that is the way I express my love for them.
CHRIS: With that, I’ll thank you again for doing this with me, Eleonora. In closing, any shout-outs to anyone?
ELEONORA: All I can say is that I am thankful for my amazing family and best friends that always encourage and believe in me and my dreams because if I ever have any doubt they give me strength and thank you for taking this time to do this with me!
