CHRIS CHARLES: Thanks so much for doing this, Julia. I see you are cast in The Legend of Tinker Hell, along with some other actresses I am familiar with. In fact I believe the filming just recently wrapped. Please tell me about the character you play in that one.JULIA NURENBERG: Yes! Sarah is my character in this film, and she is part of Skylar’s gang. Sarah is just happy to be there, always oblivious to what’s going on, especially the killer fairy flying around. She is your classic dumb friend whose outfits are always on point! One of my favorite things I got to play with Sarah are all of her fits and makeup designs, I feel they really brought her to life! She is also dating Zack and they are proof that 0 brains equal 2 people in love, and that makes their ending more tragic. I love Sarah and I hope audiences fall in love with her too!
CHRIS: Had you worked with anyone else in the cast (of The Legend of Tinker Hell) before?
JULIA: Yes! I have worked with Leah before on a film titled Blessed directed by Katie Madonna Lee. That was filmed in our hometown of South Bend, Indiana.
CHRIS: Would you say you have wanted to be an actress since you were a child?
JULIA: Definitely, I started performing in theater from the age of 10 and ever since then I’ve always known that this was what I was meant to do.
CHRIS: When was the very first time you performed before an audience?
JULIA: The first time I performed in front of an audience was in second grade at our school’s talent show, and I danced to a Selena Gomez song! But it was still a few years before I started performing consistently in musicals and plays.
CHRIS: Any particular actress you see as a role model?

Julia Nurenberg
CHRIS: I see from your bio that you’re a shade under five feet tall. Would you say that’s an advantage for getting cast to play characters younger than you are?
JULIA: I definitely feel like I will be in high school for a very long time! But I am not upset by it, it’s so much fun playing youthful characters and being able to go back into the innocence of youth for a role.
CHRIS: Do you have a favorite film genre?
JULIA: I love abstract, psychological thrillers. When a film can have a premise that on the surface is comedic or colorful in it’s aesthetic, but underneath has a dark undertone that hits the soul, those are my favorite films.
CHRIS: Please describe your character in the short Blood on Her Lips?
JULIA: Shirley in Blood on Her Lips was hot and she knew it! She did what she wanted and didn’t care who she hurt as long as she would be having fun, and that is a very fun character to play especially in a 1920s setting.
CHRIS: I see you were in Blessed: Live, Laugh, Run! Playing Nomi must have been an emotionally draining role. What was it like for you filming that one?
JULIA: That film took a lot of emotional preparation. Nomi is going through a very tough time, and she made the hard decision to get an abortion in a state that did not allow it. And I personally am close with a person who had to make that difficult choice, so I was very emotionally connected to that story. The entire time onset I allowed myself to think of how this person I love probably felt and that made it more difficult to get through, but I am so happy I did.

CHRIS: Is there anyone in indie films, on either side of the camera, you haven’t worked with, but would love to work with?
JULIA: I am still new in the Indie industry, so well I don’t have a specific name coming to mind. I am always open to working with anyone who is passionate about the work they do! I wanna work with as many creative and fun people as I can.
CHRIS: What are some behind the scenes roles you have done on a film project?
JULIA: I can hold things very well! I’ve always made sure to be happy to help hold a boom or a light whenever the team needed a helping hand. However, that is about the extent of my behind camera work.
CHRIS: If you were offered a good role in a film by a prominent director, but you saw in the script that your character has a nude scene, would you consider it?
JULIA: It would definitely depend on what the project is, and how much money we’re talking about! I see nudity in film as something that is either necessary or unnecessary to the character and plot, so if there is a scene that is very important for the film that involves nudity, I would consider it.
CHRIS: Which would you prefer; playing a well-know person, or a fictional character?
JULIA: Both are so much fun! I have had the luxury of playing historical people, I am currently playing Alice Roosevelt and a production of Teddy and Alice at Dickinson State University, and it is so fun to look into historical context and getting to know a person well enough to play them accurately. And fictional characters are just as fun because I can put a lot more of myself into them and not have to worry too much about if they would do that historically. Overall, I love both, and if the opportunity arose to portray one of my idols, I would not pass that up for anything.
CHRIS: Now that filming for The Legend of Tinker Hell has wrapped, what will be your very next project?
JULIA: I currently do not have any other film projects coming up, but I will be performing in North Dakota in Teddy and Alice with Dickinson State University, and I will also be performing in a production of Macbeth at Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana.
CHRIS: Do you have any skills or interests that only those close to you would know about?
JULIA: I can be very nerdy about things! I have loved Spider-Man since I was three years old, and that nerdiness has melted into a lot of other interests. I am also a costumer and have been sewing for over a decade, and I am very passionate about projects where I can use my hands to make something fun and whimsical!
