A Slice of Cheesecake – Yolanda Montes

A Slice of Cheesecake turns its pictorial spotlight onto a Mexican burlesque starlet, known almost exclusively to American audiences for being in The Snake People, which was the most visible of a handful of horror pictures Boris Karloff made south of the border during his last years.

Yolanda Montes (b. 1932) was better know to audiences as “Tongolele.” She rose to fame as a dancer in Mexico in the late-1940s and exhibited her skills in films through 1956, after which she took a 10-year hiatus from the screen. She returned in 1966’s The Panther Woman, and made occasional film appearances throughout the 70s and 80s. In 2012, She made another return to the screen with a brief appearance in the 2012 Mexican film El fantástico mundo de Juan Orol (The Fantastic World of Juan Orol). Between 2011 and 2013, Yolanda appeared in the stage musical Perfume of Gardenia.
