Above is the always gracious Jessica Cameron giving an interview at this year’s Film4 FrightFest in London, where the UK premiere of her film Truth or Dare was shown. The focus of the interview is on the film, which has earned overall positive reviews from fans and horror pundits alike, but Jessica delves into other topics, as well. After giving an award-winning scream, she talks about the challenges she faced going from in front of the camera to behind it, and comments about today’s social media “celebs.” At about the eight-minute mark, she gives her views on why there are so few female directors in the film industry, and not just in the horror genre.
Jessica has come a long way in the indie horror industry in just the three years since she was first interviewed for this site, both as an actress and as a producer/director. One reason for that is her choosing top talent to work with, such as Devanny Pinn, who also stars in Truth or Dare, Tristan Risk, who’s been one of the hottest talents in indie films since her winning (and arguably show-stealing) performance in American Mary, and Jen and Sylvia Soska (the Twisted Twins), who produced the aforementioned film.
Even though she’ll continue to work behind the camera, Jessica hasn’t put acting aside. You can catch her in the upcoming Save Yourself (which also stars Tristan), The Evil Gene, and Paranormal, just to name a few. Jessica will also be appearing at several film festivals and events throughout October. Check out her Facebook fan page and official website for all the info on where she’ll be and her IMDb page for her ever-growing list of credits.
